The introduction of new information technology has created new options for reliable data transfer. Because of this evolution, the transmission system operators (TSOs) have defined uniform guidelines for companies that provide or seek to provide balancing services as formulated in the "minimum requirements for the supplier's information technology for the provision of control power".
As the TSOs are responsible for the system, they have to meet generally high requirements as to the confidentiality, the availability and the integrity of their infrastructure as well as of their data. These also apply to all connected infrastructure and service providers. The requirements are minimum security and availability requirements and contain further recommendations to meet the fixed targets.
