Frequency containment reserve in the Netherlands

Introduction

Since the 13th of January 2014 TenneT Netherlands is procuring the required amount of Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR) via the German internet platform "Regelleistung.net". On this platform there is cooperation between several TSOs to procure the required FCR together in a common auction. Since the introduction of the D-2 auction (1-7-2019) there is no separate Dutch auction (PRL_NL) anymore, but the complete required amount FCR is procured via the common auction. The auction algorithm takes into account that at least 30% of the Dutch FCR obligation will be physically delivered in the Netherlands.
